The
KENTROL+ basic Controller is a panel mounting unit, finished in our distinctive
Black on Orange, and has provision for Add On units supplied as Plug In Modules
to expand the system. Each
basic Controller requires an Input of 16 volts AC to give, through the advanced
Solid State circuitry, a smoothly graduated Output up to 12 volts DC.
This Output is indicated by the Bi-Colour LED which shows a Green light
increasing in intensity as the output increases.
Should an overload or short circuit occur, the electronic cut out will
cut off the current to the track and change the LED indicator to Red.
This sequence will continue until the supply is switched off or the fault
is rectified and is thus useful for fault finding.
The change of direction is controlled by a Miniature Toggle switch with a centre off
position to protect locomotive motors from a sudden reversal of current.
The
unit can be used for Main Line or Branch Line operation and, particularly with
the addition of the Fine Control Module, is ideal for Fiddle Yard working.
It is well suited to use for the system known as Cab Control as the
outputs of all units are closely matched.
However it is essential that each basic Controller should be supplied
from a separate power source with a rating of at least 1.5 Amps for the standard
unit, 750 mA for the N Gauge version or 2.5 Amps or more for the KENTROL 0.
This should be a separate transformer or electrically isolated windings
on the same transformer unit.
